English Language Learners (ELL) ​
Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center (EMBARC)

Provides language helplines, crisis advocacy services, a refugee parent navigator, community-based English as a second language classes, digital literacy classes, Interpretations services, and a youth navigator program.

Iowa College Aid Network (ICAN) - In Spanish​

Provides assistance with college planning, financial aid, scholarship questions, and assistance with the free application for college aid (FAFSA).

Hawkeye Community College English Language Learning (ELL)

This program offers classes for adult immigrants and refugees during the fall semester and spring semester; each semester is 16 weeks.

The seven-level English Language Learning program, ranging from pre-literacy to advanced, provides instruction on life skills, college and career readiness, citizenship, employability skills, financial literacy, family literacy, and digital literacy.

Hawkeye Community College Integrated and Training (IET) Programs

These programs are aimed to provide workplace skills and adult basic education to English Language Learners and High School Completion students, so they can qualify for promotions or jobs in a high-demand industry.

At the end of these programs, students can take an examination and earn a certification in a specific area.
